Violin, viola and cello restoration in Paris
The field of restoration has evolved greatly over the centuries. In the 18th and 19th centuries, broken parts such as backs or scrolls were often replaced rather than repaired, even on instruments as prestigious as those by Stradivari. Today, given the great historical, commercial and artistic value of antique instruments, restoration methods must respect the integrity of the instrument.
Our expertise
Quality restoration rests on three fundamental principles: solidity, ensuring the instrument's longevity; respect for its authenticity, preserving its original characteristics and elements; and discretion, so that every intervention disappears in favour of the instrument itself.
Restoration goes beyond simple repair: it aims to ensure the longevity of the instrument, both in its use and its authenticity. The goal is twofold: to enhance the instrument's artistic and commercial value, and to allow it to be passed on to future generations in optimal condition, fully preserving its voice and unique character.

Scroll restoration on a Nicolo Amati violin
On this exceptional 17th-century instrument, we replaced a missing section of the scroll using aged wood matched to the original, then carved the missing part by referencing historical documentation and maintaining symmetry. Varnish touch-ups and finishing work result in an almost invisible and fully authentic restoration.

The restoration process
Every restoration is unique. We treat each instrument with the utmost care to meet the musician's expectations.
1. In-depth assessment
The first step involves a thorough examination of the instrument and any damage it has sustained.
II. Quote preparation
The quote is drawn up based on the instrument's condition and the musician's expectations, without ever compromising the quality of the work or the integrity of the instrument.
III. Restoration
The restoration itself can begin as soon as the quote is accepted.
IV. Setup & follow-up
Once the restoration is complete, we pay close attention to the instrument's setup, in close collaboration with the musician.
